Ludhiana: Yellow-coloured raised reflectors are installed in the middle of the roads for the safety of people and public driving their vehicles at night. But in most areas like Haibowal, Green Field, Model Gram, and Gill Road, these reflectors are broken or getting worn out, and do not reflect enough light. So, they can and do cause accidents.“There are tiny reflectors installed on every road for the safety of people, but what if they are not working, or getting dull? I think instead of reflecting the light, they are absorbing it. Most of them are actually of no use now,” said Green Field teacher Yukti Sharma.Shiva, an employee of a private company in Haibowal, said: “Some reflectors are are broken and missing. Many of them have not been installed properly, which led to their sorry state now. These reflectors are supposed to reflect light while driving, so that the driver can see the road properly, but because many reflectors are broken, they can cause accidents.”Balraj, a businessman on Dugri Road, said: “These reflectors must be installed in all the roads of Ludhiana, as they are a safety feature. Most of these reflectors can be put to use if they are cleaned regularly, but that is never done. I never saw anyone cleaning them any time. They should be cleaned at least after every six months, so that they create no problem for people.”The MC commissioner was not available for comment.
