A CAT scan revealed a large abdomino-pelvic mass, with a mixed density, filling whole of the abdominal cavity. The senior Onco-surgeons of Ludhiana Mediways Hospital, Dr Satish Jain and Dr Veena Jain, assisted by an operation theatre team, removed a huge ovarian mass weighing 7.5 kg from the patient’s abdominal cavity. Doctors senstised on fire prevention techniquesDoctors and para-medical staff of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) were sensitised on fire prevention techniques and evacuation of patients in the operation theatre complex. Cancer survivors honouredThe American Oncology Institute (AOI) at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) honoured the brave spirit of cancer survivors today on National Cancer Survivors Day at the AOI.

On examination, a large mass was felt in her abdomen. She was also anemic with low hemoglobin. A CAT scan revealed a large abdomino-pelvic mass, with a mixed density, filling whole of the abdominal cavity. The senior Onco-surgeons of Ludhiana Mediways Hospital, Dr Satish Jain and Dr Veena Jain, assisted by an operation theatre team, removed a huge ovarian mass weighing 7.5 kg from the patient’s abdominal cavity. Doctors senstised on fire prevention techniques Doctors and para-medical staff of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) were sensitised on fire prevention techniques and evacuation of patients in the operation theatre complex. In its series of awareness lectures and demo-classes during the fire safety week, held from June 10 to 15, a special session was held today in the surgical seminar room, where doctors and para-medical staff were given knowledge and information about preventing major fire accidents in operation theatre complex, especially when patients are inside at the time of operations. Dr Sanjeev Uppal, chairperson of DMCH disaster task force, demonstrated the usage of various fire extinguisher devices to be used in case of a fire accident. Cancer survivors honoured The American Oncology Institute (AOI) at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) honoured the brave spirit of cancer survivors today on National Cancer Survivors Day at the AOI. The event was organised in the presence of Prem Kumar Gupta, secretary of DMCH, and Dr Neeraj Bishnoi, zonal director of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir of the AOI. National Cancer Survivors Day is a celebration for those who have survived, an inspiration for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of support for families and an outreach to the community. The occasion aimed at empowering patients, families and society at large to make informed decisions regarding prevention, planning and various treatment options available to them.
