Discussion on stray dogs issue tomorrow

Ludhiana, June 21The Municipal Corporation will hold the second session to discuss the issue of stray dogs on Sunday (June 23). The civic body has invited dog lovers to conclude the discussion on the issue. According to information, around 500 cases of stray dog bite are reported at Lord Mahavira Civil Hospital here. In view of stray dog bite cases, the MC had earlier held a discussion on this issue on June 12 at the MC Zone D office wherein around 100 persons, including dog lovers and representatives of various NGOs, had participated. In the meeting, suggestions were given for adoption of stray dogs and setting up ponds for stray dogs.

The civic body has invited dog lovers to conclude the discussion on the issue. The session will be held from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm at KG Hotel here on Ferozepur Road. According to information, around 500 cases of stray dog bite are reported at Lord Mahavira Civil Hospital here. In view of stray dog bite cases, the MC had earlier held a discussion on this issue on June 12 at the MC Zone D office wherein around 100 persons, including dog lovers and representatives of various NGOs, had participated. In the meeting, suggestions were given for adoption of stray dogs and setting up ponds for stray dogs. Senior Veterinary Officer Dr YP Singh said anyone could participate in the discussion and give suggestions on Sunday. Earlier, an RTI activist had lodged a complaint with the Punjab State Human Rights Commission, alleging that the civic body had failed to take the required measures. Following the complaint, the commission has given directions to the Ludhiana DC to do the needful as per the law. — TNS
