City flyover to be named after Master Tara Singh

Addressing the gathering at a state-level function organised to mark the birth anniversary of Master Tara Singh in collaboration with the Punjabi Sahit Akademi at Punjabi Bhawan, the minister said Master Tara Singh devoted his entire life in the service of Panth. Randhawa said Master Tara Singh had a long association with Ludhiana that’s why the state government had selected the city to hold the state-level function. Randhawa also asked the Cooperation Department to spread awareness about the achievements of Master Tara Singh. The minister said Master Tara Singh was a great leader who coined the slogan, ‘I may die but Panth should live long’.

The minister’s instructions have come in response to a demand made by the residents in this regard. Addressing the gathering at a state-level function organised to mark the birth anniversary of Master Tara Singh in collaboration with the Punjabi Sahit Akademi at Punjabi Bhawan, the minister said Master Tara Singh devoted his entire life in the service of Panth. He was an honest and enlightened politician, said the minister. Randhawa said Master Tara Singh had a long association with Ludhiana that’s why the state government had selected the city to hold the state-level function. The minister also announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh for a book on the writings of Master Tara Singh and his statue at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar. Meanwhile, former GNDU vice-chancellor SP Singh, renowned historian Prithipal Singh Kapoor, MLA Kuldeep Vaid, former president of Punjabi Sahit Akademi Gurbhajan Singh Gill and Jaspreet Kaur, a member of Master Tara Singh’s family, highlighted cultural contribution and incidents associated with his life. Randhawa also asked the Cooperation Department to spread awareness about the achievements of Master Tara Singh. Legislators Surinder Dawar, Lakhbir Singh Lakha and Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu were also present. The minister said Master Tara Singh was a great leader who coined the slogan, ‘I may die but Panth should live long’.
