10 drug cases registered in 24 hours, cops on toes

In the past 24 hours, of a total of 21 cases registered at the local police stations, 10 were registered under the NDPS Act and Excise Act. Sunny Arora was arrested by the Haibowal police with 230 gram of white powder (chitta). In another case, Amit Kumar was arrested with 105 gram of powder in the Haibowal area. The police also arrested Mukhtiar Singh with 15 gram of white powder. Much more has to be done by politicians, the police and public to rid the state of drug menace,” said an official.

Ludhiana, July 15 The state government, the police in particular, it seems are trying hard to tighten the noose on drug dealers and peddlers. In the past 24 hours, of a total of 21 cases registered at the local police stations, 10 were registered under the NDPS Act and Excise Act. The police have seized a huge amount of drugs, including poppy husk, heroin and capsules, from the accused. The division 8 police caught Rahul with 1 kg of marijuana drug while he was crossing the railway tracks near Ikbal Nursing Home. Sunny Arora was arrested by the Haibowal police with 230 gram of white powder (chitta). In another case, Amit Kumar was arrested with 105 gram of powder in the Haibowal area. One kilogram of poppy husk was recovered from Raju Ram from near Anaj Mandi, Koomkalan. The police also arrested Mukhtiar Singh with 15 gram of white powder. In the Mehrbaan area, Mohan Singh was arrested with 70 gram of powder. As many as 360 intoxicant capsules were recovered from Bimla Devi who had been peddling habit-forming drugs for a long time. “The police are acting tough and on getting information from informers, immediate nakas are set up. Much more has to be done by politicians, the police and public to rid the state of drug menace,” said an official.
