But the next time you indulge in over-exercise just be cautions, as experts have warned doing exercise beyond the limit and capability as it can hamper fertility and also can affect the heart. Exercise can negatively affect fertility of a female and male as well. It might reduce the sperm count in the body that is directly related to the fertility of a man. “The cardiac risk due to undetected heart disease may trigger sudden death or myocardial infarction particularly in those not accustomed to regular exercise. Atherosclerotic (coronary artery disease) is the most common heart disease blamed for this, but occasionally congenital or acquired heart diseases such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, aortic stenosis and dilated cardiomyopathy may be responsible.

Say one tends to eat fried food in monsoon season, hence try to over exercise, which can hamper fertility and affect the heart Manav Mander Ludhiana, July 15 The monsoon season is here and people are tempted to eat fried food. The weather tickles the taste buds of many and they end up eating samosas, pakoras or kachoris, which ultimately results in weight gain. Spending an extra hour in the gym or doing more repeats than the required amount is what most of the people end up doing to overcome the guilt of eating fried food or losing those extra calories. But the next time you indulge in over-exercise just be cautions, as experts have warned doing exercise beyond the limit and capability as it can hamper fertility and also can affect the heart. “As per a study published in the journal ‘Fertility and Sterility’ too much strenuous exercise could cause delay in conception in a woman having normal weight. It found that depending on your current BMI, exercise can impact your fertility in different ways. Women exercising for a long duration can also affect their estrogen levels. If the obese body is over heated, the fat burns and leads to depletion of estrogen levels impacting fertility,” said Dr Bakul Kapoor, gynaecologist and IVF expert, Indira IVF Hospital, Ludhiana. She said generally, there is a condition called amenorrhea in women. It happens when a normal woman does not experience a menstrual cycle for more than three months. Due to the scarcity of calories in the body, it can impact fertility. Exercise can negatively affect fertility of a female and male as well. Males can also face the issue of infertility due to their heavy training sessions. It might reduce the sperm count in the body that is directly related to the fertility of a man. There are some proven facts, which shows that vigorous training session can actually lower down your fertility regardless of the sex of the person concerned. Some people are prone to arrhythmias and conduction abnormalities,” said Dr SS Sibia, director, Sibia Medical Centre. “We do not recommend a huge amount of running for a person in his/ her 40s. Rather, it should be symptom limited. As a risk of a cardiovascular event is associated with the abrupt onset of intense athletic training in otherwise sedentary and untrained individuals, the amount of stress of the speed and distance should be gradually increased,” he said.
