‘Break the silence, speak about menstrual hygiene’

Eminent personalities from the state government and team ‘Action India’ gathered to address and inform the audience about the need of personal hygiene and sanitary health. Gauri Chaudhary, director of Action India, initiated the session by explaining why young girls should be educated about intimate hygiene and health. She discussed various projects undertaken by Action India, including Nanhi Sabla, Choti Sabla and Informed Choice. Sagrika Jain, director Vardhman Group, raised the slogan “Aao mil kar Chuppi todein” (break the silence and speak confidently about menstrual hygiene). The Punjab Government embraced the initiative and offered to lend complete support to Project Nandini.

NO MORE TABOO Project Nandini launched in five government schools Ludhiana, July 17 To generate awareness among teenage girls about taboo issues such as menstruation, the Vardhman Group launched Project Nandini in association with its implementing partner ‘Action India’ at Guru Nanak Bhawan, Ludhiana, on Wednesday. Under the project, they will install sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators at government schools for free. Eminent personalities from the state government and team ‘Action India’ gathered to address and inform the audience about the need of personal hygiene and sanitary health. Gauri Chaudhary, director of Action India, initiated the session by explaining why young girls should be educated about intimate hygiene and health. She discussed various projects undertaken by Action India, including Nanhi Sabla, Choti Sabla and Informed Choice. Action India is working towards the development of affordable and compostable sanitary napkins. Neeru Katyal, ADC, Jagraon, presided over as the chief guest and encouraged girls to let no hindrance stop them. She lauded the schools which took this bold step to educate girl students about menstrual health and become the harbinger of a social change. Sagrika Jain, director Vardhman Group, raised the slogan “Aao mil kar Chuppi todein” (break the silence and speak confidently about menstrual hygiene). The project in its first phase will cover five government schools including three senior secondary and two high schools. The Vardhman Group has already provided infrastructure and constructed classrooms, toilets etc. at these schools. The Punjab Government embraced the initiative and offered to lend complete support to Project Nandini.
