Patriotic spirit runs high in schools

Green GroveDoraha: The Green Grove family commemorated Independence Day with gaiety and patriotic fervour. Khanna: Independence Day celebrations were held at Sacred Heart Convent Sr Sec School, Khanna. Shamsher Singh Gill, DSP, Khanna, hoisted the flag. DPS KhannaKhanna: DPS Khanna celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with unprecedented patriotic fervour on the school campus.

Ludhiana, August 17 Students of various schools in the district celebrated Independence Day with great patriotic fervour. Several programmes were held to mark the day. Green Grove Doraha: The Green Grove family commemorated Independence Day with gaiety and patriotic fervour. Principal Miss Suzy George hoisted the National Flag and all Green Grovians saluted it. The National Anthem was sung respectfully. Students came dressed in white dresses. Some melodious and patriotic songs were sung by the choir of the school, which compelled the audience to swing with the beat. Speeches were also delivered on the occasion. Khanna: Independence Day celebrations were held at Sacred Heart Convent Sr Sec School, Khanna. Jubilant celebrations were held on the occasion. Sacred Heartians showcased a colourful spectacle of India’s vision studded with an assemblage of the flag hoisting and patriotic songs and rhyming verses. The entire programme was a great success under the guidance of Rev Fr William Sahota, Director of the institution, and Principal Sr Rose Philips. Students paid homage and rich tributes to the nation and pledged to work selflessly for its unity and solidarity. Shamsher Singh Gill, DSP, Khanna, hoisted the flag. DPS Khanna Khanna: DPS Khanna celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with unprecedented patriotic fervour on the school campus. The school wore a patriotic look. Chairman DS Bains hoisted the Tricolour. A gamut of activities included special morning assembly on the campus. The group song ‘Ae mere watan ke logon’ filled every heart with patriotism. There was a play based on drug addiction to spread awareness against this menace. The choreography ‘A soldier’s life’ was the highlight of the day. The Chairman addressed the gathering with his enlightening words to bring forth the feeling of oneness among students and pride for the nation, whose diverse culture makes it a great country. He motivated them to have dignity and respect for the hard-earned freedom in their heart and soul always. The programme concluded with the song ‘Vande Matram’.
