Demanding action against the persons involved in the case and Zira SDM hostage episode, the protestors urged the Punjab Government led by Captain Amarinder Singh to ensure safety of government officials and preserve dignity of all offices. Protestors led by patron of the Sangrur district unit Amrit Pal Singh Pannu alleged that the successive governments had failed to protect sanctity and decorum of the politicians who frequently cross limits in an attempt to appease their vote bank and followers. “We fail to understand why government does not follow rules in letter in spirit which have been implemented to facilitate smooth administration at offices. When each office and department has a series of internal and external platforms to check carelessness, corruption and violation of rules, why leaders should be allowed to interfere in the working of various offices,” argued Pannu.
