Cops review security arrangements at Chhapar

Cops led by SSP Ludhiana (Rural) Sandeep Goyal remained busy reviewing security arrangements for Friday when huge numbers of leaders and activists of various political parties would be attending conferences of their respective parties. Sandeep Goyal said adequate security arrangements had been made to thwart overcrowding and congestion at the venue of the fair. The cops have already started working on a plan drafted for the convenience, safety and security of devotees visiting Guga Mari and surrounding places. “We have drafted the plan after intensively studying and analysing the success reports of security arrangement during the past few years,” said SSP Sandeep Goyal.

Though gathering remained thin till noon, petty shopkeepers, owners of fast food huts and organisers made brisk business later in the day today. Sandeep Goyal said adequate security arrangements had been made to thwart overcrowding and congestion at the venue of the fair. The cops have already started working on a plan drafted for the convenience, safety and security of devotees visiting Guga Mari and surrounding places. Cops from home districts and outside stations will be deployed at discrete pockets with the intent to deal with any eventuality. Installation of CCTV cameras, deployment of anti-sabotage teams, squads of mounted police and adequate number of sub-control rooms and public assistance booths were cited as deterrent to anti-social elements and boosters for devotees. “We have drafted the plan after intensively studying and analysing the success reports of security arrangement during the past few years,” said SSP Sandeep Goyal. While managers and workers of some of the eateries were found violating food safety norms, District Health Officer Dr Andesh Kang claimed that special teams had already been deployed to ensure that only hygienic and healthy food items were sold and served during the fair.
