Dr Arun Mitra to attend conference in Kazakhstan

Tribune News ServiceLudhiana, September 16Dr Arun Mitra will deliver an address during the International Scientific Practical Conference at Astana, Kazakhstan. The event is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of "Nevada Semey", am international anti-nuclear movement. He will represent as co-president of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW). The Kazakhstan Anti-Nuclear Movement built strong public opinion against these and the government banned any nuclear test in 1991. Since then, Kazakhstan is a nuclear weapon-free zone.

Ludhiana, September 16 Dr Arun Mitra will deliver an address during the International Scientific Practical Conference at Astana, Kazakhstan. The event is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of "Nevada Semey", am international anti-nuclear movement. His talk will be on "Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear Weapons - Possibilities and Perspectives of Prevention". He will represent as co-president of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW). It is to be noted here that Kazakhstan had maximum nuclear detonations in 1970s and early 1980s. These had serious detrimental impact on health of the people. The Kazakhstan Anti-Nuclear Movement built strong public opinion against these and the government banned any nuclear test in 1991. Since then, Kazakhstan is a nuclear weapon-free zone.
