Our Correspondent Ahmedgarh, September 15 As the problem of overflowing sewage persists, residents of Amarpura Mohalla in the Dhulkot Road area have protested the apathy of the officials concerned. Besides seeking immediate resolution of the issue, the protestors demand probe into alleged defective and ineffective sewerage pipes in the locality. Justifying the demands raised by the protesters, Municipal Council (MC) chief Suraaj Mohammad said officials in the department had been asked to undertake necessary measures to resolve the issue without further delay. “Officials concerned in the Water Supply and Sewerage Department have already been asked to make draft plans for resolving the problem of overflowing drains at the Dhulkot Road area so that issue can be resolved permanently,” said Suraaj Mohammad. Residents led by Rakesh Shahi alleged the authorities had failed as far as disposal of overflowing sewage is concerned. “Situation becomes worse during the rainy season when residents and passers-by have to wade through stinking water. Students and staff of a government high school, children, elderly persons and women were among the worst sufferers,” he added. Defying claims made by office-bearers of the civic body regarding massive development works undertaken in the past, Shahi said, “We demand a probe into the details of projects undertaken in our area, which have failed to solve the problem.”
