Mayor calls meeting to decide on LED streetlight project

Sandhu said they would decide in the meeting about further action that would be taken as the work of the company that is handling the LED streetlights project is not satisfactory. Sandhu said the LED streetlights project was a part of the Smart City mission while MC Additional Commissioner is CEO of Ludhiana Smart City Limited. Councillors of various parties will attend the meeting to take the final decision on the LED streetlights project, he added. Streetlights on during the dayAccording to information, LED streetlights have not been switched off for the past 48 hours in several streets of SKS Nagar on Pakhowal Road.

Sandhu said they would decide in the meeting about further action that would be taken as the work of the company that is handling the LED streetlights project is not satisfactory. Sandhu said the LED streetlights project was a part of the Smart City mission while MC Additional Commissioner is CEO of Ludhiana Smart City Limited. Councillors of various parties will attend the meeting to take the final decision on the LED streetlights project, he added. “Senior councillors will ask as to why notices were not issued to the company concerned as it has not completed the work on time, as per the agreement. Only one notice was earlier served on the company,” the Mayor said. A Congress councillor from Ward Number 74, Pankaj Sharma, had staged a dharna, along with residents, against poor maintenance of LED lights installed in the city. Besides, some other councillors and MLAs had also complained about poor maintenance of the newly installed streetlights. Streetlights on during the day According to information, LED streetlights have not been switched off for the past 48 hours in several streets of SKS Nagar on Pakhowal Road. A resident of SKS Nagar said the streetlights were on in the area during the day on Tuesday too.
