Two nabbed with 1-kg heroin

The accused have been identified as Satpal Singh Satta (34) of Jaspal Bangar and Shamsher Singh Shammi (29) of Gagan Nagar, Daba. During questioning, accused Satpal said he was a driver and he was already facing seven cases of drug peddling, of which he was convicted in four. Inspector Harbans said recently, the police had nabbed Ravinder Singh of Shimlapuri with one-kg heroin, 100-gm ice (methamphetamine) and a car. Another accused Shamsher, in preliminary questioning, revealed that he was already facing attempt to murder and other criminal cases.

Ludhiana, September 17 The Special Task Force of Ludhiana nabbed two persons and recovered one-kg heroin from them. The accused have been identified as Satpal Singh Satta (34) of Jaspal Bangar and Shamsher Singh Shammi (29) of Gagan Nagar, Daba. Inspector Harbans Singh, in-charge, STF, said secret information was received that the accused were on their way to deliver consignment of drugs to their clients on Gaushala Road in an auto-rickshaw. Accordingly, a naka was laid and after intercepting the accused on Tibba Road, they were cornered. A digital weighing machine was also recovered. During questioning, accused Satpal said he was a driver and he was already facing seven cases of drug peddling, of which he was convicted in four. Inspector Harbans said recently, the police had nabbed Ravinder Singh of Shimlapuri with one-kg heroin, 100-gm ice (methamphetamine) and a car. He said the car was of Satpal as both were doing drug business jointly. Harbans said during interrogation of Ravinder, the name of Satpal had cropped up due to which the STF was already laying a trap for the latter. Another accused Shamsher, in preliminary questioning, revealed that he was already facing attempt to murder and other criminal cases. He started the trade with Satpal about two years ago. Both are drug addicts. The accused also admitted that they had been buying fake currency from Garry and Harry living in Mullapur, which they used to mix with original currency to buy drugs from Delhi-based Nigerians. Harbans said a police party was sent to trace the accused trading in fake currency notes.
