Two groups clash at Chhawani Mohalla, cross cases registered

The police have registered a cross cases against over 150 persons under Section 160 (Punishment for committing affray) of the IPC. They were attacking each other with bottles, stones and bricks, officials said. A case against members of both the groups was registered and raids were on to nab them, he added.

Ludhiana, September 18 Two groups clashed at Chhawani Mohalla in the late night on Tuesday. They pelted each other with stones, bricks and bottles. Five persons suffered minor injuries during the clash. Some vehicles were also damaged while members of the two groups threw stones. The police have registered a cross cases against over 150 persons under Section 160 (Punishment for committing affray) of the IPC. As per the police, at around 11.40 pm on Tuesday night, information was received that two groups had entered into clash at Pipal Chowk and were pelting each other with stones, bricks and bottles. The two groups reportedly clashed over old enmity. One group alleged that members of the second group had passed derogatory remarks against their caste while the other denied allegation. After getting information, ACP Waryam Singh along with the police force reached the spot. When police personnel reached the spot, they noticed Parlad Singh Dhal along with his son Paramvir Singh, Tarlok Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Ravpreet Singh and Saraju, all residents of Chhawani Mohalla, along with around 70 persons were carrying bricks, stones and bottles, said officials. Members of the second group identified as Seepa, Kalu, his son and around 80 other persons were also carrying bricks and stones, officials added. They were attacking each other with bottles, stones and bricks, officials said. When the police party was trying to calm down both the groups, a stone hit ASI Baljit Singh and he suffered a minor injury, officials added. ADCP Gurpreet Singh Sikand said both the groups had disturbed peace in the area and also challenged the law and order situation. A case against members of both the groups was registered and raids were on to nab them, he added. From first group the police booked Parlad Singh, Paramvir Singh, Tarlok Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Ravpreet Singh, Saraju and 70 unknown persons while from the opposite group, the police registered case against Seepa, Kalu, Kalu’s son and 80 unknown persons. Footage of the CCTV cameras of the area was being scanned to identify other persons involved in the clash, officials said.
