Red Cross volunteers distribute ration

COLLEGE NOTESLudhiana: A group of the Youth Red Cross volunteers of the Government College for Girls visited flood-affected villages near Phillaur under the guidance of Satveer Kaur, Red Cross in-charge of college. They distributed ration items such as packets of daal, atta, rice, tea leaves, sugar, namkeen, oil and biscuits. The volunteers also promised to do whatever they could for the victims. Manpreet Kaur bagged first position in the district and third in the university by securing 83.50 per cent. They appreciated the sincere efforts of the staff in helping students achieve such wxcellent results.

The team interacted with the residents of Bhoewal village. They distributed ration items such as packets of daal, atta, rice, tea leaves, sugar, namkeen, oil and biscuits. Some woollen clothes, soaps, dettol bottles, sanitary napkins and footwear were also given to the flood-hit. The team collected information about the problems being faced by the villagers. Village Sarpanch Jasbir Kaur thanked the visiting team. The volunteers also promised to do whatever they could for the victims. They spent quality time with kids at an orphanage at GT Road, near Phillaur. Principal Manju Sahni appreciated the initiative taken by the volunteers. BVocational Semester-II results Students of the Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women brought laurels to the college by performing well in BVoc (Hospital Administration and Management) Semester-II examination, results of which were declared by Panjab University, Chandigarh. Manpreet Kaur bagged first position in the district and third in the university by securing 83.50 per cent. Rashmi secured second in the district and seventh in the university with 75.16 per cent. Sukhdev Raj Jain, chairman of the college managing committee; Nand Kumar Jain, president of the college; Vipan Kumar Jain, senior vice-president; and principal Sarita Bahl congratulated the students on their brilliant performance in exams. They appreciated the sincere efforts of the staff in helping students achieve such wxcellent results. TNS
