Finally, MC House to meet on Sept 23

Ludhiana, September 18Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu announced that a House meeting of the Municipal Corporation (MC) would be held on September 23. No House meeting has been held for the past five months due to which major issues of the city are being ignored. A resolution regarding the Solid Waste Management and Cleanliness & Sanitation Bylaws - 2019 is also supposed to be presented in the House meeting. It is required to mention that only two House meeting have been organised this year. The last House meeting which was held in March for annual budget of the civic body, was finished in just 15 minutes.

Ludhiana, September 18 Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu announced that a House meeting of the Municipal Corporation (MC) would be held on September 23. No House meeting has been held for the past five months due to which major issues of the city are being ignored. The issues related to overflowing sewers, stray cattle, encroachments, contaminated water supply, Buddha Nullah, poor roads, defunct street lights and many are on the list of various councillors. A resolution to provide jobs to the kin of two firefighters, who had lost life in a plastic manufacturing factory, near Suffian Chowk, is likely to be presented in the House meeting. The process to provide job to the kin is being delayed by the civic body. A resolution regarding the Solid Waste Management and Cleanliness & Sanitation Bylaws - 2019 is also supposed to be presented in the House meeting. Leader of Opposition Harbhajan Singh Dang said, “We have been demanding for a long time to hold a House meeting as there are many issues which are required to be addressed at the earliest,” he said. The talks are on between the councillors about the issues which they want to highlight before the House. A councillor said, “Development works are not being carried out in various wardsas the financial condition of the civic body is not good. The councillor quota was announced to start the development works, but no work has been started in our ward on the ground level.” Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu said all-party meeting to hold discussion on LED street lights project would be held on Thursday. After that, the House meeting would be held on Monday, he added. It is required to mention that only two House meeting have been organised this year.
