Ludhiana, October 13 Congress candidate from the Dakha Assembly segment, Capt Sandeep Sandhu, made an appeal to the voters to give him two years to see his work. “You have tried others for five years. Try me just for two years and I promise you will never forget me,” he said while addressing a public meeting at the grain market. He also took a jibe at Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal for not seeing the development that has taken place in the state during the past two and a half years of the Congress government. Questioning the authenticity of Harsimrat’s allegations that the Congress government had not fulfilled any of the promises, Capt Sandhu reminded her that more than six lakh farmers had been provided debt relief, the back of the drug mafia had been broken and youths are being provided jobs. The Congress candidate said he did not believe in levelling false allegations against anyone, but at the same time, he refuted false allegations against his government or his leader Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh. “The first two years took us to undo the damage caused by your 10 years of misrule and now we have succeeded in bringing the state back on track,” he said. Capt Sandhu has been receiving massive support from the youths and women. At most of the places, he was asked to make a promise that he would ensure that those responsible for peddling of drugs, were brought to book. “I have been deputed by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for a mission. I promise you, as I have done with the Chief Minister, that by the God’s grace and your support, I will accomplish that mission with hard work, dedication and commitment,” he said. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) announced its support to Capt Sandhu.
