Patwari among six booked for fraud

Khamano, October 19The Khamano police have registered a case against six persons, including a patwari and a clerk of Khamano tehsil, regarding the acquisition of land by the NHAI in case of a woman of Jatana Newan village near Khamano. Those who have been booked have been identified as Inderjit Singh, a clerk, Jaswinderpal Singh, a patwari, Karamjit Kaur, wife of Jaswinderpal, Mahinderpal Singh, a resident of Bassi Pathana, a bank employee and a temporary assistant. As per the complaint with the Deputy Commissioner, Sumitri Devi of Ludhiana alleged that she was to get Rs 95 lakh for her acquired land on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh road, but the above mentioned persons cheated her by taking her share of money on the name of some other person and she got only Rs 27 lakh, while Rs 67 lakh money was not credited into her account. The DC marked an inquiry and two clerks, including Inderjit were suspended. The Khamano Police have registered a case under Sections 420, 406, 409, 465 and 471 of the IPC in this regard.
