Ice cream seller held with 1-kg opium

Ludhiana, October 29The Special Task Force wing of Ludhiana arrested a Rajasthan-based smuggler and recovered one-kg opium from his possession. Inspector Harbans Singh, in charge of STF, Ludhiana, said secret information was received that the abovesaid Rajasthan-based smuggler was on the way to deliver consignment of drugs to his clients in Ludhiana. Accordingly naka was laid at Star City mohalla by the STF team where after intercepting the peddler, he was cornered. During the search of his belongings, one-kg opium was recovered. He said he had been buying consignment of narcotics from some Rajasthan-based drug smuggler which he was further supplying to his clients in Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, October 29 The Special Task Force wing of Ludhiana arrested a Rajasthan-based smuggler and recovered one-kg opium from his possession. The accused has been identified as Satya Narain, alias Sattu, a resident of Rajasthan. Inspector Harbans Singh, in charge of STF, Ludhiana, said secret information was received that the abovesaid Rajasthan-based smuggler was on the way to deliver consignment of drugs to his clients in Ludhiana. Accordingly naka was laid at Star City mohalla by the STF team where after intercepting the peddler, he was cornered. During the search of his belongings, one-kg opium was recovered. During preliminary questioning, the accused admitted that he was an ice cream seller and he started this illegal trade about six months ago with a purpose to get rich in a short span of time. He said he had been buying consignment of narcotics from some Rajasthan-based drug smuggler which he was further supplying to his clients in Ludhiana. STF in charge said the police remand of the accused would be sought from the court so that entire supply line of drugs could be busted. — TNS
