Eight farmers booked for burning paddy stubble

Mandi Ahmedgarh, Nov 15Ahmedgarh Chhanna, an adjoining hamlet, has emerged as a single small village in the region where eight paddy cultivators have been booked under Section 188 of the IPC for allegedly violating government orders by burning stubble in the fields either owned or tilled by them. Six of the farmers have been arrested and released on bail, whereas raids are being conducted for nabbing the remaining two accused. SHO City Sukhdeep Singh said cops led by Baljinder Singh, Darshan Singh and Sukhvir Singh had booked eight paddy cultivators who had burnt stubble at fields situated on the outskirts of Ahmedgarh Chhanna.“Having received directions from our circle officer Karanvir Singh, we launched a coordinated movement to caution farmers against stubble burning,” said Singh.
