City girl judokas secure overall 2nd position

Our Sports CorrespondentLudhiana, November 18The girl trainees of the Judo Coaching Centre, run here by the Punjab Sports Department at the multipurpose indoor hall of Guru Nanak Stadium, brought fame to their coaches by securing overall second position in the state-level competition. These trainees garnered 21 points to finish as runners-up in the Judo Competition held U-25 category under the Tandrust Punjab Mission at Mansa. According to coaches, Parveen Thakur and Navdeep Jindal, who accompanied the judokas to Mansa, the trainees bagged seven medals, including two gold medals, that helped them clinch the overall second place. Mona and Harleen Kaur bagged bronze medals in the below 52-kg and plus 78-kg weight sections to steer their side finish as first runners-up. Ravinder Singh, District Sports Officer, congratulated the girls and their coaches on this achievement.

Deepshikha and Priya Sharma annexed gold medals in the below 57-kg and below 70-kg weight groups, respectively, while Amandeep won silver medal in the below 48-kg weight category whereas Prince Kumari secured silver medal in the below 63-kg weight section and Bavleen Kaur got silver medal in the below 78-kg weight category. Mona and Harleen Kaur bagged bronze medals in the below 52-kg and plus 78-kg weight sections to steer their side finish as first runners-up. Ravinder Singh, District Sports Officer, congratulated the girls and their coaches on this achievement.
