Interim report blames principal, teacher

SUICIDE BY CLASS XI STUDENT Ludhiana, December 3 After Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Agrawal asked the police to submit a report on the incident where A Class XI student of SGD Grammar School, Dhandari Kalan, had committed suicide allegedly due to mental torture at the hands of the school director, principal and teacher, the Police Commissioner today submitted an interim report to the DC. The report mentions that school director Prabhu Dutt, principal Saroj Sharma and teacher Poonam abetted the suicide as the boy was mentally tortured by them for wearing short jeans. Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal said the police had submitted an interim report to the DC. The report has all case details, including circumstances that drove the student to suicide. The interim report also found those booked guilty. “The police will submit a final report soon. A statement of the boy’s parents is pending as they are away to their native place in UP to perform the last rites of their son. We are also collecting evidence and the same are being corroborated to establish the exact reason behind suicide. Guilty will not be spared and investigation was being done on merit,” said the CP. The police chief said teams had been formed to conduct raids at the suspected whereabouts of those booked in the case. The suspects seemed to have gone underground. However, they would be arrested soon, he asserted. On Thursday, Dhanajay committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence. A day after, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh also Tweeted and expressed concern over such incidents. He had directed Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Agrawal to submit a complete report on the matter. A team of the district administration, led by the SDM, had visited the school to conduct their own probe.
