Woman’s SOS call keeps senior cops on their toes

The woman had told the control room that she was stuck somewhere and forgot the way to reach her kin’s house. The control room officials passed the caller’s details to the Ludhiana police. When the police tried to contact the woman, they found the phone switched off. Both officers visited the spot from where the woman made the call as also the place where her phone turned off. Soon after making a call to the PCR, her mobile switched off due to low battery.

Officers search for her all night as phone goes switched off Nikhil Bhardwaj Ludhiana, December 3 A day after the launch of free-ride scheme by Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal for women during odd hours, a distress call made by a Nawanshahr-based woman to the Police Control Room, Chandigarh, on Monday night, kept police officer on toes as her mobile phone went switched off soon after. The woman had told the control room that she was stuck somewhere and forgot the way to reach her kin’s house. She requested for a ride to drop her at the destination. The control room officials passed the caller’s details to the Ludhiana police. When the police tried to contact the woman, they found the phone switched off. Suspecting that the woman might be in trouble, the police had remained on toes whole night. They put the mobile number on surveillance to find the last location of the woman. The Division 7 police also informed ADCP Jagjit Saroya and the ACP Sahnewal. Both officers visited the spot from where the woman made the call as also the place where her phone turned off. The officers, along with the police party, kept on searching the area the whole night. They also questioned the local residents. They even decided to check the footage of CCTV cameras. In the morning, ACP West Davinder Chaudhary also conducted a search. The police were able to trace the woman as soon as she switched her mobile on in the afternoon. They visited her place and heaved a sigh of relief to find her safe. The woman told the police she had safely reached her aunt’s home in Guru Arjan Dev Nagar. Soon after making a call to the PCR, her mobile switched off due to low battery.
