Ludhiana, December 3Manas Hospital, Ludhiana, today observed HIV/AIDS Awareness Day under the guidance of Dr Anshul Mahajan, consultant psychiatrist. Dr Mahajan said, “Since the advent of anti-retro-viral treatment therapy, HIV can be successful controlled. However, there is still a psychological aspect of this disease, which needs to be addressed.”He said a patient with HIV/AIDS harbourers a lot of misconceptions about the disease. “Stigma attached with AIDS, prevent a patient to live normally in the society. Thus a patient keeps himself away from social obligations, including marriage, job and education,” he said and added that by removing misconceptions, AIDS patient can be brought into the mainstream.
