A large number of differently abled persons participated in this function. He said: “UID cards are being made for differently abled persons so that they do not face any problems while availing benefits of the government welfare schemes. On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also interacted with differently abled persons, who shared their grievances with him. The Deputy Commissioner assured all possible cooperation from the district administration.

Ludhiana, December 3 Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal today said: “Differently abled people are an important part of our society. To excel in life, mental strength is more important than physical strength.” He said while addressing the function on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises (DBEE), here today. A large number of differently abled persons participated in this function. Deputy Commissioner, Pradeep Kumar Agrawal was the chief guest. He said: “No person is complete in itself. So if one wants to excel in life, person should have mental toughness more than physical one. Differently abled persons have contributed to a large extent in strengthening our nation as well as society.” He further said the Punjab Government had always supported the differently abled to ensure that they become self-dependent. He said today’s awareness and placement camp for differently abled was also organised by the state government at DBEE, Ludhiana, to achieve the same purpose. Over 60 needy persons participated in today’s function. Agrawal said DBEE offices across the state educate and support youth who want to become self-dependent and facilities such as training, jobs, loan and others were provided to them. He said: “UID cards are being made for differently abled persons so that they do not face any problems while availing benefits of the government welfare schemes. DBEE organises placement camps at DBEE office, Pratap Chowk, from 10:30 am to 1pm, every Friday. Eligibility for participants is classes X and XII, graduation, ITI and various other diplomas.” He urged the youth to avail full benefit of the DBEE. On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also interacted with differently abled persons, who shared their grievances with him. The Deputy Commissioner assured all possible cooperation from the district administration. Some of the participants were also selected by different companies for providing jobs.
