The year 2019 has been designated by the UNESCO as the International Year of the Periodic Table to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Mendeleev’s Periodic Table, which is an iconic and vital tool for all chemists. Best-out-of-waste contestArtists of Spring Dale Public School achieved victory at the CBSE’s Hub of Learning best-out-of-waste contest held at St Francis School.

Hardeep Singh Dhillon, chairman, Punjab Police Housing Corporation, Mohali, was the chief guest for the day. He motivated the students to stay focused to fulfil their dreams. Students displayed a wide array of dances from the heritage of India. Principal Anu Verma read the annual report, followed by felicitation of meritorious students. Sacred Soul Convent School Sacred Soul Convent Senior Secondary School, Dugri-Dhandra road, celebrated its annual function with great pomp and show. Bagicha Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate, and secretary, District Legal Service Authority, Ludhiana, was the chief guest of the function. Principal Navjot Takkar presented the annual report of the school, followed by prize distribution function. PowerPoint competition held Mehak Sidhu and Aakash Malhotra, students of Class X at Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, participated in the Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex maths and science PowerPoint presentation competition. The team bagged the second runners-up trophy by presenting their presentation on ‘Mathematics: A scientific tool’. DAV wins medals at athletics meet Sportspersons of DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, participated in the DAV National Sports Meet 2019, held at DAV Public School, Panipat, at which the U-19 girls’ basketball team of the school romped home victory and the grand trophy. Amongst the boxers, Kashika bagged gold while Sanya, Taran and Garima won bronze medals. In Taekwondo, Khusha Sharma grabbed silver medal. Rajesh Thakur, head, Physical Education Department congratulated the winners. Fancy dress contest for tiny tots Gujranwala Guru Nanak Public School organised a fancy dress competition for students of nursery. The tiny tots came dressed as animals, political personalities, traffic personnel. Principal Gunmeet Kaur said such contests provided a platform to kids to develop self-confidence. swacchhta pakhwada rally held The NCC cadets of Green Land Convent School, Chandigarh Road, took put a swachhta pakhawada rally with an aim to create awareness about the importance of cleanliness. The cadets interacted with local vendors and made them aware about the Swacchta Pakhwada Movement initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. About 52 cadets attended the rally under the guidance of Col BS Pundhir and spread the message of cleanliness. Presentation on water conservation With water crisis looming in India, the CBSE has mandated schools to become water efficient within next three years. To generate awareness about water conservation, Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar, held a PowerPoint presentation seminar for its faculty and students. The support staff was sensitised to the adoption of rain water harvesting systems. Principal Sister Silvi laid emphasis on the importance water. Science exhibition at SDP School SDP Senior Secondary School, Hazuri Road, organised science exhibition on campus. Students of Class XI and XII science exhibited nearly 65 models on the theme of pollution, technology, transportation, energy and mathematics. Int’l Year of Periodic Table marked Bal Bharati Public School organised an inter-school competition to mark the International Year of The Periodic Table 2019. The celebrations provided an opportunity for participants to develop new resources, raise awareness, inspire people of all ages and create a platform for community learning. An array of various offline and online competitions related to chemistry and general science were conducted. The aim of the contest was to test creativity, knowledge, scientific aptitude and competitive spirit of students. The host school had participated in all the events but did not compete for the trophy. Best-out-of-waste contest Artists of Spring Dale Public School achieved victory at the CBSE’s Hub of Learning best-out-of-waste contest held at St Francis School. There were two categories in the contest and both teams of the school came out victorious. The school bagged first position in category B and second position in category A. TNS
