RGC athletes win gold in judo

COLLEGE NOTESLudhiana: Athletes of Ramgarhia Girls College brought laurels to the institute by winning three gold medals at the Panjab University Judo Championship, held at Punjab University, Chandigarh. Priya, who has also participated in the World University Competition; Savitri, who won bronze medal in the Commonwealth Judo Championship in England this year; and Bableen bagged a gold medal each. In an inter-college karate championship, Komal and Ekta won bronze medal in 50-kg and silver in 55-kg category, respectively. World AIDS Day observedDD Jain College of Education, Kidwai Nagar, observed World AIDS Day. Principal Vijay Laxmi and YS Walia, director, Walia Diagnostic Lab were resource persons on the occasion.

GNDEC promotes Innovations in MSMEs Research and Development is an integral part of both the industry and educational institutions. The private sector, particularly Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs), is expected to be a key driver. Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (GNDEC) has been supported by GIZ to initiate this innovative project. The programme aims at identifying the problems faced the MSMEs of the city and strengthening cooperation between private sector, government and academic and research community. The financial support of more than Rs 5.5 lakh needed by the teams would be provided by GIZ. PCTE gets leadership award PCTE Group of Institutes was awarded Education Leadership Award by Dewang Mehta National Education Awards, India’s largest education awards contest and is held as part of the World Marketing Congress. The event took place at The Taj, Chandigarh. There were 30 institutes and organisations nominated in various award categories. The criteria and competencies benchmarked for the awards ceremony were an educational achievement, placements, leadership, best in-class infrastructure and future orientation. The award was conferred to KNS Kang, chairman-cum-director, PCTE Group of Institutes. Prof Naresh Sachdev, dean, Corporate Relations, received the award on his behalf. World AIDS Day observed DD Jain College of Education, Kidwai Nagar, observed World AIDS Day. Principal Vijay Laxmi and YS Walia, director, Walia Diagnostic Lab were resource persons on the occasion. Walia delivered a lecture on AIDS. Vijay Laxmi apprised students about the increasing menace of AIDS. The interactive session was followed by a discussion and follow up session, in which queries of students and staff were sorted. TNS
