Taking women safety aspects into consideration and fill some sensitive points, 10 more PCR vehicles have been added to the PCR fleet. Now, as many as 120 PCR vehicles are on night patrolling job. These PCR vehicles are connected with the control room number and at the time of emergency, cops will immediately move to the crime spot,” Pareek told The Tribune.

These PCRs will reach the crime spot within a few minutes of being informed. As per Deepak Pareek, Additional DCP, Headquarters and Security, PCRs were deployed at strategic places in the city and these will patrol as per the areas assigned to them. “Earlier, the city police had 110 PCR vehicles, including Ertiga, motorcycles and other vehicles. Taking women safety aspects into consideration and fill some sensitive points, 10 more PCR vehicles have been added to the PCR fleet. Now, as many as 120 PCR vehicles are on night patrolling job. These PCR vehicles are connected with the control room number and at the time of emergency, cops will immediately move to the crime spot,” Pareek told The Tribune. Pareek said these 120 PCRs consist of motorcycles and cars, adding that strict instructions have been given to PCR cops to keep a tab over anti-social elements and other criminals. He said safety of women during night would be ensured to prevent any crime against women. Pareek said Ludhiana police were committed for women safety and many other steps were being taken in this regard. He said the Punjab Police Shakti team was imparting self-defense training to school and college girls. On an average, one such training camp is being organised in the city’s educational institutions every day. Even the recent scheme for free ride to women to their home during night hours was also receiving a huge response from women folk.
