Gangster shoots at ‘ahata’ owner in daylight

Our CorrespondentLudhiana, December 8In a daring daylight crime, gangster Shiva Bahtti allegedly fired four shots at Goru who runs an ‘ahata’ (drinking place) adjoining a liquor vend in the Daresi area today. According to Gurpreet Singh Sikand, ADCP/Central, Bhatti arrived at the ‘ahata’ around 3 pm and challenged Goru to come out. On the sight of his rival coming out, Bhatti fired a volley of shots, hitting Goru twice in the legs. He said a case under section 307, IPC, had been registered against Bhatti and a search had been launched to apprehend him. The police said Shiva Bhatti, a member of the Ghugga gang, was involved in several criminal cases (at least eight), of which he had been declared a proclaimed offender in four cases.

Old enmity is stated to be the cause of this attack. Reports said Goru suffered two bullet injuries in his legs and was rushed to the CMC Hospital where he was stated to be in a stable condition. Goru’s father Pawan Kumar said there had been a clash between the two three months ago in which a case under section 307, IPC, was registered against Bhatti. Later, Goru and Bhatti had reached a compromise. According to Gurpreet Singh Sikand, ADCP/Central, Bhatti arrived at the ‘ahata’ around 3 pm and challenged Goru to come out. On the sight of his rival coming out, Bhatti fired a volley of shots, hitting Goru twice in the legs. He said a case under section 307, IPC, had been registered against Bhatti and a search had been launched to apprehend him. The police said Shiva Bhatti, a member of the Ghugga gang, was involved in several criminal cases (at least eight), of which he had been declared a proclaimed offender in four cases. He has been out on bail several times. Bhatti was the target of an attack with sharp weapons in Fatehganj Mohalla on April 24 this year. In October 2018, he was arrested with a countrymade pistol and three bullets. The police had arrested gangster Bhatti, along with the leader of his gang Vijay and two others, in May 2017 when they were charged with heinous crimes such as extortion, loot, snatching and sale of illegal weapons purchased from Meerut and other places in Uttar Pradesh.
