Gehlewal family dedicates ‘Vivek Satth’ to villagers

Tribune News ServiceLudhiana, December 9In the memory of their son Vivek Singh Pandher, the family has dedicated ‘Vivek Satth’, a common place where residents can gather and hold cultural events, discussions, and children can play, at their native village of Gehlewal in Ludhiana district. Punjabi writer Jaswant Singh Zafar and his family have developed the Vivek Satth on one acre in the village. The ‘Vivek Satth’ was inaugurated in the presence of Dr Surjit Patar, Padma Shree recipient, and Chairman of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Baldev Singh Sran yesterday. Vivek Singh Pandher (22) had passed away in 2015 in Canada. Meanwhile, Sran said work had begun to set up a sub-station of 66 KV at the village.

The ‘Vivek Satth’ was inaugurated in the presence of Dr Surjit Patar, Padma Shree recipient, and Chairman of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Baldev Singh Sran yesterday. Vivek Singh Pandher (22) had passed away in 2015 in Canada. He was a student there. His body organs were donated after the doctors declared his brain death. A Punjabi film writer and artiste, Rana Ranbir, was present at the inauguration. Addressing the gathering, Zafar made an appeal to the people of Ludhiana to make the Buddha Nullah pollution-free. An engineer, Charanjeet Singh Brar, presented a poem based on Buddha Nullah. Meanwhile, Sran said work had begun to set up a sub-station of 66 KV at the village. He said the sub-station would be set up within six months and it would be improve the power supply to the area.
