Tribune News Service Ludhiana November 23 All teaching non-teaching and Class IV employees of Punjab Agricultural University have been protesting on the campus against the “indifferent attitude” of the authorities towards demands of employees since October 13. President of the PAU Employees Union Baldev Singh Walia reacted to statements given by the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar. He said the Vice-Chancellor asked to resolve all issues through dialogue unions were always ready for a table talk and even over five meetings took place none of the demands had been fulfilled so far. Walia said: "We have submitted the demand charter to the authorities in May 2020 and written many letters to the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar before initiating the protest and even gave ultimatum to resolve issues before October 6 but the authorities have never responded and even not bothered to call them for any meeting and table talk. "Now even after a long protest of about one-and-a-half months the authorities are now saying that they want to resolve all issues through dialogue. It seems like an eyewash” he said. While talking about the statement issued by the Registrar regarding the status of the demand for promotion of clerks to the post of senior assistant Walia said the state government had issued clear instructions that all clerks having an experience of four years were to be promoted to the post of senior assistant and these instructions were adopted by the PAU but were not being implemented as 64 posts of senior assistant were lying vacant and clerks having over 11 years of experience were still not getting promoted. The Registrar said they had created 10 posts of AFO to promote the Agriculture Sub Inspector but the fact was that none of the Agriculture Sub Inspector has been promoted as the AFO till date. Walia said the state government had reduced the period of experience of different categories a few months ago but the university was not implementing the government instructions.
