Dismissed BSF official arrested for sacrilege

Our CorrespondentMandi Ahmedgarh Nov 27The Ahmedgarh Sadar Police arrested a dismissed BSF official in connection with the incident of torn pages of a Sikh holy 'gutka' found at Jandali Kalan near here over a month ago. Objectionable materials recovered from his house included a Punjab Police uniform ballet number 1105 buckles and badges name plate rubber stamp of the State Bank of India stamp of Commandant 157 BN BSF stamp of Adjutant 157 Marine BN BSF and stamp of Drawing and Disbursement Officer 157 Marine BN BSF. Ahmedgarh DSP Rajan Sharma said the police led by Sadar SHO Parteek Jindal had arrested Baljeet Singh of Jandali Kalan when he was trying to leave the area. Baljeet Singh was also disappointed because of his dismissal in September 2019 followed by separation from his wife. Baljeet Singh was also facing financial constraint as his file for immigration to Canada had been rejected more than once.

Our Correspondent Mandi Ahmedgarh Nov 27 The Ahmedgarh Sadar Police arrested a dismissed BSF official in connection with the incident of torn pages of a Sikh holy gutka found at Jandali Kalan near here over a month ago. The accused has confessed to have committed the sacrilege. A number of stamps of senior functionaries of the BSF and a nationalised bank were recovered from his house during search after his arrest. The accused has been identified as Baljeet Singh of Jandali Kalan a neighbour of the complainant. Objectionable materials recovered from his house included a Punjab Police uniform ballet number 1105 buckles and badges name plate rubber stamp of the State Bank of India stamp of Commandant 157 BN BSF stamp of Adjutant 157 Marine BN BSF and stamp of Drawing and Disbursement Officer 157 Marine BN BSF. Ahmedgarh DSP Rajan Sharma said the police led by Sadar SHO Parteek Jindal had arrested Baljeet Singh of Jandali Kalan when he was trying to leave the area. On October 23 the police had received a tip-off about the incident following which senior officers supervised by Sangrur SSP Vivek Sheel Soni inspected the spot and got an FIR registered under Section 295-A against unknown suspects. Investigations revealed that Baljeet Singh was among those who had been frequently complaining against the management committee of Gurdwara Bhagat Ravidas led by Samsher Singh a resident. Baljeet Singh was also disappointed because of his dismissal in September 2019 followed by separation from his wife. Baljeet Singh was also facing financial constraint as his file for immigration to Canada had been rejected more than once. Acknowledging that the accused had been booked and arrested on the basis of circumstantial evidence DSP Rajan Sharma said: “Though the accused has confessed to having committed the sacrilege we are yet to ascertain the crime or crimes committed with the Punjab Police uniform and stamps of a bank seized from his possession.”
