17 cm tumour in food pipe removed by endoscopy

Ludhiana: Dr Nitin Behl Additional Director Gastroenterology Department Fortis Hospital Ludhiana and his team removed a giant 17-cm tumour from food pipe of a 65-year-old woman patient through endoscopy with no blood loss no incision or stitch. “Only 37 cases of similar problem have been reported worldwide and tumour in only one case has previously been removed through endoscopy reportedly from China” said Dr Behl. Dr Aggarwal said the condition was a refractive error that affected people with after the age of 40. “Presbyond is a comfortable fast and efficient way to get back 20/20 vision” Dr Aggarwal said. “The lifetime risk of developing inguinal hernia is 15 per cent to 27 per cent in men and 3 per cent in women.

The patient was discharged the next day. Giant tumours of food pipe are rare but life-threatening. They lead to heartburns and difficulty in swallowing sometimes. But they can become life-threatening by coming out in mouth and leading to choking and sometimes death.
