Biker arrested for beating Ludhiana traffic cop

Ludhiana: The Division Number 8 police arrested a biker on the charge of beating a traffic policeman Jasvir Singh at Fountain Chowk on Tuesday night. He said when he stopped the traffic from one side Tarun didn't stop his bike at the Dugra Mata Mandir chowk. Ludhiana: The Division Number 8 police arrested a biker on the charge of beating a traffic policeman Jasvir Singh at Fountain Chowk on Tuesday night. He suffered minor injuries in the incident. The biker has been identified as Tarun Kumar of Partap Singh Wala. Constable Jasvir Singh said on Tuesday at around 8 pm he was regulating traffic at Fountain Chowk. He said when he stopped the traffic from one side Tarun didnt stop his bike at the Dugra Mata Mandir chowk. Instead he stopped near to me and started arguments. Before I could say anything Tarun started beating me and tossed my turban as well he alleged. The police were called and the biker was taken to police station. The latter said he had not abused the cop rather he abused me. He alleged the police instead of taking action against the erring cop registered a case against me. A case has been registered. TNS MC seizes 35 kg of polybags Ludhiana: A team of the MC on Wednesday carried out a drive against banned plastic carry bags. Chief Sanitary Inspector Ashwani Sahota said they issued 11 challans against violators and seized 35 kg of plastic carry bags during the raids at Lakkar Bazar Subhani Building Chowk CMC Road Shingar Cinema Road and Samrala Chowk. The drive had been carried out on the orders of the Mayor and the MC Commissioner. A delegation of traders had met Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu requesting him to allow use and sale of above 50 micron carry bags. Sandhu had assured them that they would be allowed to use the said variety of carry bags but action would be taken against the banned plastic carry bags.. TNS
