LUDHIANA: As many as three persons died and another was injured in four road accidents in the city.In the first incident, a speeding truck mowed down Gaushala Road resident Onkar Singh, 68. Onkar was going to Chet Singh Nagar on a two-wheeler to collect rent from his tenants. The truck hit him near Partap Chowk . The truck driver fled leaving the vehicle behind. Onkar was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead.The division number 2 police registered an FIR against unknown truck driver under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence).In the second accident, Hardeep Singh, 30, of Guru Nanak Colony , worker at a garment store, died when a speeding truck hit him near Dugri flyover. The truck driver took him to a hospital where he was declared dead. Atam Park police post in-charge Dharminder Singh said on the compliant of kin of deceased, they booked driver, identified as Satwant Singh of Sudhar village, under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence).In another incident, Aman Bholla, 25, of Jawahar Nagar area suffered serious injuries when a speeding pick up auto his bike near Harnam Nagar railway colony on Saturday. He was taken to the civil hospital. An FIR was yet to be registered.In an accident on Friday night, Ranjeet Singh, 60, of Ghawaddi area died as his bike slipped on the road. He worked as a security guard in Sarabha Nagar. At 8:15pm when he was returning home after duty, his bike slipped near Dugri flyover and he suffered severe head injury. Some passerby took him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. The Dugri police have begun proceedings under Section 174 of CrPC in this context.
