State basketball teams leave for Hyderabad

BASKETBALL TOURNEYOur Sports CorrespondentLudhiana, June 27Players of the Punjab youth basketball teams (boys and girls U-17) were given a warm send-off at the Guru Nanak Stadium here today. The teams left for Hyderabad to take part in the 34th Youth National Basketball Championship to be held from July 1 to 8. Boys: Princepal Singh, Harsimran Singh, Binod, MP Singh Gill, Charanpreet Singh, Mannatpreet Singh, Vishvajeet Singh and Lovepreet Singh from Ludhiana Academy, Akashdeep Sharma and Mani Singh from Bathinda, Raj Kumar Joshi and Rajan from SAS Nagar, Mohali. Rajinder Singh and Narender Pal have been appointed coaches of the squad. Yurinder Singh Hayer, Teja Singh Dhaliwal, senior vice-president and general secretary, respectively, of the Punjab Basketball Association along with JP Singh, Vijay Chopra and coaches were present at the stadium to wish players good luck for the upcoming competition.

The names of players are: Girls: Ridhima and Isha from Ludhiana, Priyanka, Harmandeep Kaur, Jashanpreet Kaur and Amandeep Kaur from Amritsar, Heena from Jalandhar, Anmolpreet from Kapurthala, Sukhmandeep Kaur from Moga, Radha Rani, Preeti Kumari and Sapna from Sangrur. Devenderpal Singh Dhindsa and Saloni will accompany the team as coaches.
