LUDHIANA: At a time when the diarrhoea outbreak has hit several places in Ludhiana, a 60-year-old resident of New Raj Guru Nagar has tested positive for swine flu The patient was admitted to DMCH five days back with symptoms of swine flu. A state lab in Chandigarh which tested the sample confirmed it to be a positive case.Busy in controlling the diarrhoea outbreak and taking measures to prevent dengue and chikungunya , the health department is feeling the heat after the swine flu case.Ramesh Kumar, district epidemiologist, said, "It is dangerous and worrisome situation. It is shocking to see a positive swine flu case in this weather. Swine flu is contagious and spreads quickly. We have to take immediate action so that other family members are not affected."He said, "It is difficult for us to control three diseases at one go as all three spread quickly. We are still trying to manage diarrhoea."He said New Raj Guru Nagar has been checked and Tamiflu tablets have been given to patient's family and friends. But we are still trying to know the history of the patient from where he contracted H1N1 virus.He said, "It's rare when swine flu, dengue, chikungunya and diarrhoea are reported at the same time in a city."
