Ludhiana, July 20 Challenging police functioning, three masked men today entered a house at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and looted an elderly woman. The armed men took away cash and gold ornaments worth lakhs. The incident occurred at 5.10 pm. The victim’s, son Hardeep Singh, said in the evening, his mother Charanjit Kaur (60) and domestic help Neetu were present in the house while his wife had gone to drop her son at a tutorial. The robbers, who seemed to be aware of the presence of the elderly woman in the house, barged into the house. They were carrying sharp weapons. They came on a motorcycle but his mother could not note down its registration number, said Hardeep. The robbers asked his mother to hand over gold ornaments she was wearing and later they forcibly took the keys of a locker from where they took away Rs 55,000 in cash. Hardeep said when her mother tried to raise the alarm, the accused threatened her with life. He said the CCTV cameras were installed in her house but the robbers took away the DVR. Since they took away the mobile phone of her mother, she could not inform him about the incident immediately. The police said a case against unknown robbers had been registered.
