Manav Mander Ludhiana, July 20 Inquiry report in the Amrita death case seems to have gone with the wind. Officials are just pointing fingers at each other but the report has not been presented before the Punjab State Information Commission to date. The brother-in-law of Amrita, Raj Kumar Saathi, had written to the commission in January this year to know about the findings of the report. The commission has now summoned the Principal Secretary, Health, and his Public Information Officer to appear before it on July 26 in connection with the death of Amrita, who lost her life after a C-section at the Mother and Child Hospital here on November 27, 2015. Earlier, the commission had summoned the Civil Surgeon and his PIO; the Director, Medical Research and Education, and his PIO; and the Director, Health and Family Welfare. The Civil Surgeon, in his reply to the commission, had stated that they knew nothing about the report and that it was with the Director, Medical Research and Education. The Director, Medical Research and Education, in his reply to the commission, said they were just a member of the inquiry committee and had already submitted the report to the Principal Secretary, Health. The Director, Health and Family Welfare, when appeared before the commission, said the report was with the Director, Medical Research and Education. Now, Saathi has pinned all his hopes on the Principal Secretary, Health, and he hopes the latter will come with the findings of the inquiry report during his appearance before the commission. In November 2015, three women, namely Ruby, Sujata and Amrita, who were admitted to the Mother and Child Hospital (located on the premises of Civil Hospital) for delivery, had lost their lives. A painkiller injection, Diclifinac, was suspected to be the reason behind their death. However, the injection had cleared the test. Another injection, Oxytosin, was found to be of substandard quality.
