LUDHIANA: Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) organized Industrial Interaction meeting with Dr. Roshan Sunkaria , IAS, Principal Secretary , Department of Science Technology and Environment, Government of Punjab in the CICU complex, Focal Point, Ludhiana on Friday. The objective of the meeting was to spread awareness for controlling pollution in industry in systematic and effective method and also to educate it members to control the pollution in a cost effective manner. Upkar Singh, General Secretary, CICU while welcoming the Chief Guest and other dignitaries informed the need of organizing this meeting for the benefit of the industries in the State.He requested the Chief Guest for setting up the separate Zone for the Red Category Industry to control the pollution in the city areas. He also requested that the setting up Effluent Treatment Plants will help in discharging the pure water after the treatment.During the meeting various issues including V.D.S. schemes, Permanent consent for green category, Subsidy for purchase of implement for pollution control, Promoting recycling of water and Treatment of Effluent through R.O. System, Reducing charges for issue of consent, Waiver for submission of CLU & PTM for Consent were discussed. Speaking on the occasion Sunkaria, said that the demands submitted by CICU are genuine and need to be addressed sympathetically. He assured that the Effluent Treatement Plants in various places will be made operational. He said that it will be make sure that the department will help the MSME units in guiding the implementation procures. He further assured that demand of VDS and rain harvesting system and fly ash disposal of the industry will be addressed in due course of time.D.L Sharma, Director, Vardhman Textile Ltd raised the demand for nominating the area for disposal of rice husk ash. He also requested for the constitution institutional benefits of the industry. While Manmohan Ubhi, Director of the Ludhiana Effluent Treatment Society (LETS) requested that the units located in the non designated area should not be harassed for getting the consent from PPCB. Prominent businesspersons including S.C Ralhan, Mridhula Jain, Rajeev Jain, Rajneesh Ahuja, Harsimjit Singh, Ajit Lakra, Pankaj Sharma, Honey Sehi T.R Misra, O.P Bassi, Vinod Thapar, Angad Singh, Rajat Sood, Phuman Singh, Mahinder Kumar Chopra, Sham Gupta, S.S Bedi, and S.B Singh were also present in the meeting.
