Ludhiana, September 13 Team Insaaf chief and Atam Nagar MLA Simarjit Singh Bains has caught a corrupt Patwari and a welfare officer red-handed and posted videos of raiding them live on the social media. Bains caught Patwari Sukhwinder Singh Sodhi at Patwarkhana in Gill for taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a resident, Manvinder Singh, for making an ‘intkaal’. After doing the rounds of his office, Manvinder approached Bains, who gave him currency notes after noting down their serial numbers. Bains, in the live video posted on the Facebook, said Manvinder went to meet Patwari today and handed him bribe money. But when he saw Bains coming, he fled the scene after giving the bribe money to his assistant’s son, who also tried to escape. However, his assistant’s son was caught by villagers. Bains said the five currency notes recovered from the assistant’s son bore the same numbers as noted down by him. “Around Rs 25,000 more were found in his pocket despite his salary being merely Rs 5,000,” Bains said. Bains has also posted a video of Welfare Officer for Ludhiana Tehsil Jagmohan Singh, who, he alleged, had sought Rs 5,000 as bribe for releasing money given by the government for inter-caste marriage to a couple. Bains said Nisha, who was a scheduled caste, and Prince Sharma, a Brahmin, were made to do the rounds of the office of the welfare officer to get the grant. The couple also went to the Welfare Department in Chandigarh, where they were told that their file was complete and there were no issues in the release of the grant. The couple approached Bains. His team gave the couple Rs-500 notes after noting down their serial numbers. The team made a video of the officer taking bribe money. But when the officer was shown the video, he denied having taken bribe. But later, the currency notes that Bains had given to the couple were found in the file the officer was carrying. The officer was later seen asking for forgiveness from the couple. His senior officer was also called by Bains.
