Brar said police remand of the accused would be sought to recover more mobile phones. Brar said the accused had raped the minor girl on September 9 and even tried to strangle her.

Ludhiana, September 13 The city police have busted a gang of snatchers with the arrest of three of its members. They have been identified as Gurjit Singh Sunny (18) of Civil City, Shivam, alias Kala (19), from Haibowal Kalan; and Charanjit Singh, alias Annu, a resident of Thapar Colony. The ADCP, RS Brar, ACP Sachin Gupta and SHO of Division 4 Vijay Kumar today conducted a press conference. Brar said the accused had taken to crime to earn money in a short span of time. They had put a fake number plate on their motorcycle which they were using to commit snatchings. The ADCP said the police also impounded the motorcycle and recovered six mobile phones from their possession. He said with the arrest of the accused, three cases of snatching registered at various police stations in the city had been solved. Brar said police remand of the accused would be sought to recover more mobile phones. The police would also book the shopkeepers to whom they had sold the stolen mobile phones. Boy who raped minor nabbed The Division No. 4 police have nabbed a boy who had raped a 12-year-old girl. He has been identified as Vijay, a resident of Jassia Mohalla. Brar said the accused had raped the minor girl on September 9 and even tried to strangle her. Vijay had cornered the girl while she was going to the market. He forcibly took her to his rented accommodation where he raped her. The ADCP said a medical examination of the girl also confirmed rape. Man nabbed for abetting wife’s suicide The police have nabbed a man on the charges of abetting the suicide of his wife. He has been identified as Amarjit, a resident of Chuharpur road. Brar said his wife, Ruby, had committed suicide on September 12 as she couldn’t stand harassment at the hands of her husband and her brother-in-law. The woman’s brother, Jatinder, alleged that Amarjit used to torture his sister which forced her to end her life.
