PAMETI backs organic farming

Tribune News ServiceLudhiana, September 20Punjab Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (PAMETI) in collaboration with Regional Center of Organic Farming, Panchkula (Haryana), organised a two-day Extension Staff Training Course on Organic Farming, which concluded on Wednesday. Dr H S Dhaliwal, Director, PAMETI, inaugurated the training programme. Bharti Madan, Deputy Director, PAMETI, while explaining the objective of the programme, stressed that there is a need for state farmers to understand the role of organic farming for conservation of water quality and soil health. In all, 22 participants attended the training course. The course was meant for field functionaries/extension officials from Department of Agriculture and Research Fellow/PG students from agricultural educational institutes.

During his inaugural address, he said with high agro-chemical input use, the natural ecological balance between organic uptakes from the soil and its replenishment gets disturbed which needs to be maintained at all costs for existence of life in long term.
