Two snatchers denied bail

According to the prosecution, the accused snatched the earrings of Sumitra Devi when she was standing outside her house. The court declined the plea of the defence lawyer that the accused had been behind bars since October 14.

Ludhiana, November 22 Additional Sessions Judge Tarntaran Singh Bindra has dismissed the bail applications of two persons facing the charge of snatching gold earrings from an elderly woman. The accused are Sumit Bali of Lakshmi Nagar, Haibowal Kalan, and Gurdeep Singh of Anand Nagar, Haibowal Kalan. They were arrested around 37 days ago. The court declined the plea of the defence lawyer that the accused had been behind bars since October 14. The custody of the accused alone was not sufficient ground to release them on bail, the court said. A case against them was registered at the Basti Jodhewal police station on October 10. According to the prosecution, the accused snatched the earrings of Sumitra Devi when she was standing outside her house. Their registration number of the motorcycle was noted down by her neighbours.
