SFI, DYFI demand arrest of college teacher for ‘luring’ girl students

The agitators also sought the arrest of MKU officials who are mentioned in the telephonic conversation between Ms. Devi and four unidentified final year girl students. Over 60 students and youths squatted in front of the college gate and staged the protest raising slogans condemning the woman faculty. “We condemn the conduct of the woman teaching staff who promises to award higher marks and also deposit money into the accounts of the girl students if they fulfilled their “urgent needs”. Members of Students Federation of India and Democratic Youth Federation of India along with students of Devanga Arts College staged a protest in front of the college in Aruppukottai demanding arrest of its Assistant Professor, Nirmala Devi, accused of “luring” girl students into doing some ‘undisclosed’ favours for officials of Madurai KamarajUniversity, on Monday. The college has clarified that it had immediately placed Ms. Devi under suspension on getting the complaint.
