Mr. Mohammed said after due process, the prisoners would be issued Aadhaar cards within a fortnight. The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), District Jail and Tamil Nadu Cable TV Corporation jointly organised the special camp, in which 20 prisoners registered themselves for getting Aadhaar cards. RAMANATHAPURAMIn a first of its kind in the State, the District Court organised a special camp at the District Jail here on Thursday to help remand prisoners register themselves for getting Aadhaar cards, issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Sub-Judge V. Ramalingam, who is the secretary of the DLSA, made the arrangements for the special camp in coordination with the UIDAI and prison authorities. M. Syed Mohammed, Deputy Manager, Tamil Nadu Cable TV Corporation, who is the Special Tahsildar for registration of Aadhaar cards, took laptop and other equipment inside the prison for collecting biometric and other data of the prisoners after getting special permission from the UIDAI, the officials said.
