NAGERCOILKanniyakumari District Crime Branch police have picked up two Congress functionaries for allegedly cheating a man of ? 23 lakh on the pretext of getting his daughter a seat in a private medical college. Ramesh Kumar of Padanthalumoodu, former Youth Congress secretary of Kanniyakumari (West) district, for the medical seat. Besides his contribution of ? 10 lakh, Mr. Babu, through his friends Saji Kumar and Jayakumar, reportedly gave ? 13 lakh to Ajan and Samuel, who is the district secretary of Youth Congress. As the trio failed to keep the promise and did not return the money, Mr. Babu submitted a petition to Superintendent of Police Srinatha, who directed the District Crime Branch to look into the matter.
