more-in MADURAI The rapidly increasing crime rate against women and children in the State had left the people in fear and anger, said C.J. Rajan, president, Samam Kudimakkal Iyakkam, a city based non-governmental organisation. He condemned the incidence of molestation of women and children. The recent incident in Chennai, where a 12-year-old hearing-impaired girl was molested for about seven months by at least 17 men, stood testimony to the shocking state of affairs, he said. Mr. Rajan also condemned the assault on a Russian woman in Tiruvannamalai. He said these incidents had put the State to shame. Parents had to take initiative to teach their children the difference between a good touch and a bad touch. They had to listen to their children. Schools should create awareness of sex education among students. He said it was the duty of the State to increase awareness of the laws that protected women and children.
