MADURAIMadurai district police on Sunday seized demonetised ? 500 and ? 1,000 currency notes, worth ? 1 crore at the face value, which were being transported in a car. The police seized the currency and detained one Naveen, Rajasekar and Dharma, who were travelling in the car. The police subsequently detained Saravanan. During questioning, they allegedly told the police that the currency notes were given to them by one Saravanan of Melur, who was involved in money transfer to foreign countries, to be delivered to a person in Paramakudi. The police reportedly found that the demonetised currencies were kept hidden in the car, police sources said.
